By the time police reached the spot, the man was burnt to death
(Mumbai) A biker in Maharashtra, India was charred to death on a highway after an accident with another biker who later died in the hospital.
Ironically, even as people passed by the burning man, no one stopped to douse the fire or rescue the victim.
By the time police reached the spot, the man was burnt to death.
A video of the incident taken by one of the bystanders shows the man in flames failing to stop the moving traffic. Some people who gathered at the spot didn't provide any help and preferred to record the incident in their camera.
According to the NDTV, the video was taken on the highway in Maharashtra's Beed district, at a point some eight hours from Mumbai. When the two bikers collided, one of them was trapped under the wrecked bikes, which caught fire.
The report quoted police saying that the victim was unconscious from the head injury because of which he could not shout for help.
"We are yet to establish who the victim is," senior police officer G Sreedhar told NDTV.
"Since the number plates on the bike were burnt, we are unable to get much details about the victim. All we could tell from the plates was that the bike was registered in Parbhani (a town nearby). We have given the plate to the Regional Transport Office, which can give us details, Sreedhar said.
